Karla Barron

Karla was born and raised in Mexico City, completed her undergraduate degree in the North of Mexico and came to Edmonton to obtain her MA degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies at the University of Alberta. Although the plan was to return to Mexico after graduation, she decided to stay in Edmonton. She worked at the U of A in student and alumni services and is currently working as a Project Coordinator at NAIT. She officially joined the NextGen committee in January 2011 and has recently taken the position of co-chair of the Pecha Kucha Working Group. She is excited for the opportunity to help shape our city and encourage Edmontonians to be passionate about where we live. Karla loves Edmonton for its River Valley, festivals and cultural events. She enjoys camping, snowboarding, running, traveling, and cooking for friends.
